I haven't had time to check yet on any changes, but I've never heard of any E-Trade "surcharge" like that for sub-$1 stocks -- and have certainly never been subjected to one. PERHAPS that extra per-share-charge only applies to stocks OVER $1 (that kind of breakdown isn't uncommon) -- did you specifically ask about "penny" stocks? If not, the person you spoke with may have been assuming otherwise...

I am sending in my money today for Webstreet. $14.95 for 50,000 on the internet. I haven't seen a better deal than that. I have been using Discover and Waterhouse. I thought about going to MyTrack but you can only buy in 10,000 share increments.
