I haven't had time to check yet on any changes, but I've never heard of any E-Trade "surcharge" like that for sub-$1 stocks -- and have certainly never been subjected to one. PERHAPS that extra per-share-charge only applies to stocks OVER $1 (that kind of breakdown isn't uncommon) -- did you specifically ask about "penny" stocks? If not, the person you spoke with may have been assuming otherwise... Vagabond
