You're right, of course, Adam. I'm just a little surprised that Cramer has plenty to say about other Internet companies that have new or emerging business models, yet Pixar's complexity frightens him. Maybe it's just too much work for the little fella.

But while I have your attention, Adam, can you comment on this:

Thanks. And thank you for your great post. Everything you said makes a lot of sense.

Mark

Good post Adam. The other point that really should be mentioned is this free PC movement. So far,
this has been confined to bit players and hasn't affected Apple. One concern, although it's a bit
secondary at this point, is AOL appears to be on track to release a free Internet appliance based on
NECs Geode (MediaGX) chip (possibly by Xmas). The device to be given free to AOL customers.
You should probably assume that with the Apple example and the small form factor of the Geode, this
may be a highly stylized device and could impact iMac. Another secondary concern is that AMDs K7,
appears to have specs in line with the PPC on a Mhz to Mhz basis and will be released at 600Mhz
shortly. Of course AMD probably won't be able to produce many of these but later next year who
knows.

Before Apple can play in the "free-PC market", it has to be able to profitably ship a machine that is sub-$500. Even so, I still don't think that will pan out. It's not like cell phones where people are paying $300, $400, or even $1000 a year for service. People are gettings ISPs at less than $200 a year! There isn't a lot of profit there to help ammortize the cost of a machine.

I still hope that Apple is working toward a $500 machine with 20% net margins...
