Maurice thanks for all that feedback reading it all now did they say anything about Brazil handset production when will they start producing handsets in that country? regards bruce

China, Taiwan and CDMA, with a slightly OT Twist. Those on the thread will recall, approximately a fortnight or two ago, that in connection with upcoming OHG and ITU standards discussions, China weighed in with its own CDMA entry, an indigenously developed flavor of CDMA, it was said (I can't remember which initial Mme.__ prefixed [pris fixe]). But the query was (JohnG, you and I were involved) how this would play out in terms of royalty rate/licensing restrictions and liberties and negotiations between the Q and Ministry of Communications. In today's NYT reportage of China's sabre-rattling against Taiwan, China slipped into a report of developments its reference to its home style and self-developed neutron and small nuclear bomb capacity. Absolutely consistent with China's view of itself as a resourceful, great power (Cox report supporters notwithstanding). China is in fact a great power and has many ways and means at hand to close the technology gap between itself and the West. Regards.
