They are trying.

I heard that they have cut the price of 500 MHz athLATEs to just a little over $200 - the 550 MHz about double that and the 600 MHz athLATE is priced very high indicating a very small bin split to the 600 MHz spec.

Analysts who have tested the chip and examined its architecture have nearly universally stated that the Athlon offers more performance than a Pentium III running at the same clock speed

How is that for a good laugh?
