When the street realizes open access doesn't mean declining, but rather increasing revenues, we'll se both AOL and ATHM fly to new highs again.

yihsuen, as I think deeper into this open access issue, I feel AT&T realizes that open access will do good to their earnings ultimately. T has repeatedly said to open their network in a future time. And FCC is advocating an eventual open access too. But the key here is that the network can't be opened immediately. ATHM must use this 3-4 years of time to become strong enough so that when the network is eventually opened, ATHM can be on a leveling field to compete. If the network is forced open tomorrow, I do believe that ATHM's business will be adversely impacted. ATHM is in its infancy. She kind of needs the closed network to protect her. It's this simple.

And from any rational angle to look at this issue. Cable network is not possible to open for the next 3-4 years. Litigation, tech issues, pricing issues are going to drag it out for years. AOL will be lucky to enter cable in 2005. So, AOL's best bet is ADSL.
