Alan, if a group of investors sets up a thread of its own, and sets up rules for participation, I have no problem with that. If a person comes into that group and posts something that is not according to their rules, and is courteously reprimanded and asked to conform, I have no problem with that, either.

If that person decides to stay, and refuses to abide by the code of conduct of that group, it would seem to me that at some point he would be in violation of the SI Terms of Use because his purpose would be to harass, and he could also be in violation if his posts are abusive or "otherwise objectionable". Thus while I don't think you need to agree with the group, if you continue to post material that the members of a thread find objectionable you could at some point find that you are also in violation of the SI Terms of Use and therefore subject to discipline by SI.

In any case, everything works better if we all just get along voluntarily.

Carl

Alan: Re" As far as I am concerned this is a free and open thread to all posters, regardless of their attitude about Bob Brinker, subject only to the Silicon Investor Terms of Use."

This is why you are not legal counsel for this thread <G>. If what you say is true, then I see no reason for us to continue this thread. If anyone can post anything without regard to fact or fiction then this thread will quickly become a wasteland on nonsense which this thread was established to avoid in the first place. That is what happened to the first Brinker thread and that is what we have sought to avoid in starting this thread. So far I think it has been successful and that is the bottom line for me despite any legalistic arguments to the contrary.

Allan,

<<As far as I am concerned this is a free and open thread to all posters, regardless of their attitude about Bob Brinker, subject only to the Silicon Investor Terms of Use.>>

The SI terms you quoted in your post are minimum requirements. Fortunately for us the founders of this thread have raised the bar to help restrain foolishness. The alternative is, as some of us know from experience, an atmosphere of chaos.

<<However I am at a disadvantage in determining whether said read-specific restrictions have been violated....>>

Unless you intend to make yourself judge of these things I don't see any benefit for you to worry about it.
