I already said this, but it was a long time ago, so I'll say it again. You describe people who think engagement will be a more effective way of promoting promoting reform in China than confrontation as "apologists". That seems pretty well into the "absurd extension" category. That's one; I haven't time to go dredging up old posts to go looking for others. Belligerent and inflammatory rhetoric is an ineffective way of promoting peaceful progress, in diplomacy or on a message board. It is usually intended to gratify an ego, not to accomplish any practical result.
