Scott, here's a company that's got several announcements for software that makes all platforms interconnect. All platforms except they have no mention of anything WAP compliant. At the moment, that would seem to give an advantage to Win CE and 3Com. Regards, Mark

Synchrologic: First to Solve Mobile Mess with iMobile Suite
Palm(TM), Windows CE, and Laptops, all managed by a single-source, enterprise solution
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 1999-- Synchrologic, Inc., (www.synchrologic.com) today announced iMobile Suite(TM), the first single-source solution to manage file distribution, data synchronization, and software distribution for an enterprise's mobile workforce. iMobile Suite is the only mobile software solution that supports mobile devices based on 3COM Corp.'s (NASDAQ: COMS - news) Palm OS and Microsoft Corp.'s (NASDAQ: MSFT - news) Windows CE, as well as laptops.

As more and more workers bring handheld computers into the organization, the demand for mobile computing is exploding. Piecing together existing point solutions to support the distribution, collection and synchronization of data to and from these mobile devices often presents incompatibilities and limitations, extremely high licensing and implementation costs, and exhaustive vendor evaluation and maintenance. iMobile Suite eliminates this cumbersome process by consolidating into one product all the functions needed for developing and implementing a coherent mobile computing strategy.

In addition to the core functionality of file distribution, data synchronization and software distribution, iMobile Suite includes iMobile Connect, a ''one-click'' single interface for the mobile user, and iMobile Admin Console, a single interface for administration and maintenance of all iMobile Suite users and functions.

''Distributing, collecting and synchronizing data between mobile computing devices and enterprise database servers is a problem that companies must resolve to leverage the benefits of e-commerce,'' said Randy Giusto, Director of Mobile Technology Research at IDC.

''With iMobile Suite corporate IT departments can support mobile workers using a variety of devices,'' explained Said Mohammadioun, CEO of Synchrologic, Inc. ''For example, a salesperson can sync files and data on his laptop and share some of this data with a field service rep who uses a Palm. iMobile Suite allows a company to keep all of its mobile workers updated with new data, files and software easily, using a single mobile computing platform.''

''Synchronizing data to mobile teams is critical to the success of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. We originally selected Synchrologic for our TeamPOINT CRM system because of the company's superior technology and innovative thinking,'' said Tim Perkins, vice president of worldwide marketing for POINT Information Systems. ''With the announcement of iMobile Suite, Synchrologic continues to impress us and provide us with a competitive edge as we work together on the next generation of Web-enabled CRM.''

iMobile Suite includes two standard and essential parts:

-- iMobile Connect - Provides ''one-click'' mobile user updates. -- iMobile Admin Console - Provides a single interface for

administration and maintenance of all iMobile Suite users and

functions.

Between these two supporting parts lies the heart of iMobile Suite's functionality: three Internet-oriented products that can be used in any combination.

iMobile File Distribution - Based on a publish-and-subscribe model, uses Web server technology to provide reliable, secure and cost-effective transport of information to and from mobile workers.
iMobile Data Synchronization - Delivers bi-directional, field-level synchronization between mobile client devices and various enterprise database servers, including Oracle®, Microsoft® SQL Server®, IBM DB2® and Informix.
iMobile Software Distribution - Allows central management and delivery of mobile software applications.
iMobile Suite for PC and Palm Computing® will be available in September. iMobile Data Synchronization is available immediately. Windows CE support will be available by end of year. Pricing varies per server, function, platform and number of users.

Scott,

Currently, I am unable to get 64MB flash for my MP3 players ...

Are you referring to MMC or CompactFlash in this capacity?

I bought two 64 MB SanDisk CF cards from eCost last week for $144.00 each plus shipping and a processing fee.

I also bought the Cassiopeia E-100 from AnythingPC for about $450.00 and justify the purchase as field testing.

I am waiting for a TV tuner that fits into the CF slot so that the Cassiopeia can double as a handheld television.

Scott, are you familiar with what Type III PC Cards are? Is this still fitting into the normal slot, or is it external? Here they talk about another micro-drive company which has a 260MB and later they mention a Gig drive based on Slot III. At this stage, besides Win CE computers and lap tops, how widely adopted are PCMCIA slots?

Regards,

Mark
