Dave,

>>>I think it depends on whether you're viewing this as a change in strategic direction for Intel or simply a stopgap move.

Again, never said RMBS is DOA, but it has a PE of 300+ so much is built in already and the continual delay of world domination will impact the stock price negatively in the short to mid term...

>>>Do you really believe that Intel is going to make PC-133 SDRAM part of the long-term roadmap?

No, but define long term or how long it "might" become part of the roadmap?

>>>It sounds to me as if Intel has realized that the NSM/Cyrix/VIA deal will allow VIA to produce chipsets that support PC-133 under license, and they had to react.

This is interesting, because PC133 might actually become viable from Via (no pun intended), INTC must now look at it!? I thought RDRAM was the winner in price/performance camp?! Why the change, that's my question??

Hi Dave,

"I think it depends on whether you're viewing this as a change in strategic direction for Intel or simply a stopgap move. If the OEMs can't get enough RDRAM (which we've known for months that they couldn't), would Intel be doing this if VIA wasn't in the picture? If the answer is no, then it's a stopgap (competitive) move. If yes, then it's a strategic move."

Hi Dave,
after having slept one the problem, I woke puzzled.
Probably, as Uncle pointed out, MU is the biggest problem by being behind schedule. But nevertheless I would assume that they would be on in production before a suitable 133 chipset is available.
This leads me to believe that either a) we are over estimating the importance of INTC's evaluation, or b) a serious technical problem has been run into.
Either way it's back to the 80's for a while

Alan

Dave,

Do you really believe that Intel is going to make PC-133 SDRAM part of the long-term roadmap?
