What surprises me most, in addition to the large AOL subscriber base, is the amount of time the subscribers spend on AOL specific stuff (chat rooms, instant msg.,etc) vs internet. I tried to get rid of the service but my daughter does not let me. For certain audiences, they are hooked. It's a community (or multiple communities). Good for rolling out new services and collecting ad money. Also, when you pay for something, you tend to value and use it more.
