Switching server option - Cutomer Support at 1-800-498-8068 gave me the cntl-alt-n key sequence. I've seen it mentioned before on this thread, and in the onelist emails. I guess that it goes through a list of servers, but don't know that. There are at least three server locations I can name (herndon, mtnview and stclara) and each may have multiple servers.

To tell which server you're connected to, look at the bottom center right of your Qcharts screen. Mine says stclara-r01.quote.com. I used to always be connected to herndon, but recently it's been mtnview. The switch took me to stclara.

If you aren't a member of qcharts@onelist.com, I recommend joining. It's free for Qcharts subscribers.

As to where to find more help, the only avenues I know are the Help which you are using, this thread, onelist.com and the 800 number. My knowledge is really quite limited, but usually someone here or on onelist helps out.

Good luck.

Well, I'll say it. The software is a work of art, the data feed seems to be quickly deteriorating. The problems have increased recently, I would guess largely due to an increase in users but if I understand they switched data feeds also. Although I list a few problems below for the sake of folks thinking of switching to Qcharts, the bottom line IMO is to verify any data with another source before acting. Although Qcharts has been an asset in increasing profits, lately it's cost me several times.

Bid/Ask problems have recently accelerated...they quite often don't match T&S data and I frequently see the bid, or bbid > the ask or bask. Despite claims by Qcharts that some of this may be normal, they never are when I compare with my PaineWebber broker.

There have been many, many complaints here and on the onelist utility regarding missing data in some of the index charts, many complaints regarding bad data in BB stocks and isolated reports of crazy data on particular equities that sometimes seem to go away by changing servers. Apparently on a given day, particular servers are more accurate than others. These complaints seem to be on the rise.

Option chains are basically unusable...need to be checked against other sources for missing strikes (sometimes even within the base symbol) and in some cases missing chains. In addition, recently 20-30% of the options strikes for a given chain display nothing but the symbol...not bid, ask or anything else. Wrap around symbols are usually, if not always missing. Apparently, they have to add new symbols manually to their data base before they're accessible to users, imagine that...impossible to maintain. Some days, such as yesterday, the website options chains accessible through the browser menu withing q-charts don't come up at all either. The fixes have been promised for some time, yet the problems are increasing, not decreasing.

Finally, hate to say it, but the customer service is terrible, if not the worst out there. It took me over a week to get my OPRA authorization reestablished after they accidentally deleted it over a weekend. Imagine that, an options trader with delayed quotes for a week! That was after repeated unresponded to emails and alerting key folks such as the president on this thread. Fortunately from an operating standpoint the package is straight forward and has an excellent user interface, but don't expect a fast resolution to problems, if at all. Don't expect to necessarily even be able to talk to anyone, or get return emails. Although the promise has been that service would improve, it has not to date. Unfortunately I can tell you that I have been a customer of quote.com via one package or another for over three years and their manner of service is the same now as it was then.
