There is always competition between news organizations to be the first out with the facts. They blow it on occasion. CBS, ABC, NBC, and CNN are expected to be more accurate then Drudge. Until I see credible statistical evidence to the contrary I will assume this to be so.

The most ridiculous story I saw was the report of a "ping". Which was thought to have come from the downed plane. Since there are no sonar transmitters on the plane it was obvious to me the "ping" didn't come from the plane. This seemed to escape the "fact checkers".

I have never given much credence to the intelligence of journalists as a whole. Especially the TV anchors who presume to also be journalists.

It's not to say I think TV Anchors are stupid. Most do in fact have a full six pack. It's just that they're missing that little plastic thing'ie which holds it all together.
