This is a good rule to keep in mind when playing the stock market: If you come up with a sure-fire way to make money, it's not going to work for long. This is a perfect example of what happens. We're not the only people who had the idea of buying leading up to the quiet period. The result is that there are no buyers left when the quiet period ends -- worse, there are a large number of sellers. This is without regard to the nature of the recommendations, since people were buying similarly without regard. Don't bank on the above paragraph continuing to hold true, either, since people will probably start using that behavior to make money -- leading to its demise.
