Of course the possibilities are endless...court challenges, confusing legislation, etc. etc. And even if cable is opened up by whatever initiative, I can hear AOL and others screaming about the price charged for access and calls for price controls, etc.

It's rather interesting that ATT also knows how to take the other side....that is, fighting state and local governments for the right to have access to local carrier lines to offer local service. It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison since local carriers are considered to be public utilities but the rhetoric is similar at times.
