Everything I have read indicates AltiVec is a 128-bit processor. That's why it is so far ahead of what Intel has to offer and will have to offer for a couple of years. Whether or not it is unveiled in October remains the object of some debate. We shall see. The capabilities that are unleashed with this platform should not be underestimated, IMHO.
