Hey Evan, Several of the China-based internet stocks are heating up; which rather blows the "..China in crisis and decline.." theory all to hell. Here's a post from the CAOL thread: *********************** By: BIGGATOR Reply To: 4692 by spambuster Thursday, 22 Jul 1999 at 12:02 AM EDT Post # of 4703 CAOL IMOT and XNET are all takeover candidates. They either have a good chance of getting listed or wll be taken over by one of the big boys. They all want a piece of the Chinese pie. *********************** I believe XNET is not an unknown quantity to the crew in Newport Beach, and the techie-types at Sentio. Also, I picked up a few tidbits on some of the JV history for LGOV. The company was romanced by none other than Nichimen, some time back, which is a Japanese financial powerhouse (not a historical thrill-a-minute to the folks in Beijing, however). Then SHV came along looking for LGOV. Everything was positive until the head muckity-muck in Holland lost his cool, because Dan (..by the regs..) had to annouce the tap dance. SHV pulled back in a snit - and put a wrench in some otherwise solid progress. I understand SHV has been back - but got the cold shoulder. Serves 'em right. As the big LPG terminal projects along the Pacific rim are fast approaching completion (..many months late, over-budget, and very full of product..), the El-Biggo players, trying to talk to Beijing, are finding only one avenue in..!! Guess who..?? (..Chuckle..) Kind of all comes back to our baileywick, doesn't it! If you stack enough brick and conduit in usable patterns, soon you have a building - then a business - then (..with just a skoshe of luck and some perserverence..) a collection of happy investors. Love it when a plan comes together..!! Regards, John :-) ps: What was it that Navy Dude said? "..Wastewater on the AIINONites, ...Full speed ahead.."!! Close enough for government work anyway :-)
