<15,000 candlepower is correct>
How does that compare to a normal flashlight?

Ken:

Where do you buy those 6-volt batteries in bulk? I think I have that lantern you referred to. [I'm too lazy to out to the garage to verify it's the same model.]

And, your right. It does give off very good light. I'm gonna do a "girl" thing and create a decorative base to hide the real one, so it fits in with my decor:-)

I was going to get Alladin lanterns (some were really pretty) ... but, they're very hard to come buy and have become extremely expensive. I never liked the idea of burning anything in my house with fuel anyway. Though I'll still probably keep my eyes open for one at a garage sale or re-sale shop.

I think I'm gonna get another skylight in my kitchen so I can maximize natural light.

I got a hand-cranked radio (inc short-wave). 60-cranks and it works for 1/2 hr. When kids were here, they were cranking it and taking it all over the place:-)

And ordered a hand-cranked flashlight (with big light). But, it's been back-ordered for some time and hasn't come in yet.

I just put "ROTARY" or "CHEAP" phone that doesn't require battery adaptor on my shopping list. Here's why:

If you have a cordless or a phone/answering machine combo, neither will work without electricity.
