JGoren, a couple of important earnings reports - Bell Atlantic and Sprint. First BEL: biz.yahoo.com Global Wireless added a total of 271,000 domestic subscribers in the quarter, with Bell Atlantic Mobile (BAM) adding 214,000 new net subscribers. BAM ended the quarter with 6.6 million customers, up 15.8 percent. Sprint is more interesting:biz.yahoo.com * Sprint PCS added 617,000 new customers in the second quarter, a 142 percent increase over the second quarter last year. Sprint PCS ended the quarter with a total of nearly 4 million customers. * Average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) was slightly over $54 in the second quarter 1999. Both CDMA networks are showing excellent growth, nothing that we don't know here but it is a good confirmation. The sprint report has a couple of interesting items: Additionally, Sprint PCS announced an aggressive push further into the business segment with the launch of the Sprint PCS Clear Wireless Workplace. The new suite of bundled wireless solutions for large, medium and small businesses features local PCS-to-PCS calling minutes, off-network calling minutes and text messaging services. Looks like they are finally ready to attack the Nextel market with this feature. Could "Nextel is toast" be the next slogan?Sprint PCS also began to unveil its plans to offer customers wireless data services later this year. In the quarter, Sprint PCS announced an agreement with Yahoo! to offer Internet content and services to Sprint PCS subscribers using Sprint PCS phones. In addition, Sprint PCS and Nokia announced a contract to offer Web-capable phones this year. Needless to say, this press release was prepared before they awarded the $400M contract to QC on Monday, which include pdQs. Ramsey ps TO ANYONE: please read basic rules before posting.Subject 29581
