As a woman of color who's 41 years old, I feel fortunate to live in country that has such a nonprofit agency to protect my interests when faced with corporations that may only be interested in their own survival and to hell with employees. Fortunately, businesses like that don't tend to survive for very long. There's a saying, "How you treat your employees is a direct reflection of how you treat your customers/clients." As a business student at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University, I'm very well aware of the necessity to cut costs. Good management, however, means always keeping in mind business ethics when making decisions that may potentially have a harmful or lethal impact on the environment, communities, and human beings themselves. I voted for Clinton and don't regret it for a second. I have a low opinion of all politicians - I view one over the other as the lesser of two evils. As the late legislator Millicent Fenwick once said, "Government is a necessary evil." Still, it's imperative that there be a balance between business interests and public welfare. One should not supercede the other. If businesses are left unfettered and left to do as they wish then child labor would still exist, unsafe working conditions, and the like. I'm all for letting businesses do what they do best - create jobs, create goods and services that consumers want & need, and turning in a profit. That's why I have a portfolio and hopefully my own company some day. Balance is the key! Hopefully, Z will be acquitted or if they lose, then sooner or later in one way or another there will be a payback. What goes around, comes around whether for individuals or organizations.
