People are masks. People in general do not tell you what they think of you, or indeed much of what they think at all (which is a good thing for society). And of course many people don't think at all- but you may not know that for a while because they don't talk much(remember the old saying, better to be quiet and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt). No one is completely trustworthy, and (imo) most people aren't trustworthy at all. Almost all of us have a point at which we would sell out our friends- it is merely dependent upon price.

I do not think life is highschool- I think human life is simply bounded by certain limitations; Bandwidth (our brains just aren't that good- I wish they were better), and communication- I find speech very inadequate with some people, and way too much with others, and of course the whole chemical/neurological thing we have going on- it is hard to tell where "we" begin and our amoeba like chemical responses start- although our chemical responses are a tad more sophisticated (in most cases).
