Interesting articles, I apprciate that type of retrospective view, but in light of the fact that the RDRAM premiums are so much higher than the SDRAM premiums were ($hundreds and 50% vs $3 and 20%) and the nature of the computer market is one where the prices of mainstream pcs are dropping at a rapid rate to $0 in many cases, that the analogy doesn't hold.

DaveB,

The big advantage of SDRAM over EDO was not performance, but rather that it was easier to design a system around synchronous memory. DRDRAM clearly does not offer an analagous advantage on a motherboard.
