The context in which GW joined was: it was the most favorable of the options he had available, and he took it. The problem is that he got that relatively cushy safe reserve fly-boy training position because of who he was, not what he was, leaping ahead of many qualified young men who did not have well-placed daddies. Fine. This is America, and that's how it works. I just don't see any 'service to country' here. Looks more like service to self. I don't want a man with those values as POTUS.
