Oh, ok -- I'm back on track now -- I misunderstood your previous post. I find it hard to believe that out of all the things produced in the West, it is only technology items with potential military use that the people of the PRC would want to buy. It seems to me that it is the GOVERNMENT of the PRC that wants those hi tech items, not the populace. We can export lots of consumer goods, not just agricultural stuff, that would go a long way to raise the 'level of expectation' of the average Chinese citizen. And, that is the basis of capitalism!
