Positives:

1. He's been there long enough to get acquainted, but havent been there too long to have been part of CPQ's goof ups and terrible mis-management.
2. Few Transition issues: He seems to understand the problems and challenges (a concept that everyone in the world seemed to grasp except for Mason and Pfeiffer).
3. He's ready for change: He seems very focussed on a strategy and game plan.
4. He comes from a Tech background: No burning the midnight oil over a computer manual. He also understands manufacturing efficiency- supply chain management. Critical asset to address CPQ's failure to streamline operations.
5. He's direct and a good communicator: Never underestimate the importance of being able to communicate. Hopefully this will carryover to customer relationships.
6. He seems excited: Attitude attitude attitude. being positive is essential when youre at the top. being nervous usually means you have something to hide.

JMHO.... we'll see what happens.
