I use Netscape Communicator 4.61 at home and a slightly earlier 4. something version at work. My IE is 5.0. Both my Netscapes show a cream color. The one at work is barely visible against the white. The one at home is a slightly darker and cooler color, but still cream. No mistaking it for gray. IE version is definitely light gray.

Perhaps part of why we all had such different opinions on the colors was because we were all looking at different things.
