Business plans???? Do you mean sales or earnings projections? The latter hardly
constitute a business plan. It appears that companies do all they can to get the whisper
numbers as low as possible and creative accounting as active as possible.

An FDA turndown is a bit more serious than failure to meet projections. When people
lose 40% of their investment in one type of stock in a day and realize how difficult,
costly and time-consuming is many of them will decide it is better to invest in other areas
where reality takes longer to intrude.

Can a stock be hyped in the short term? Yes, of course. Will the biotech industry
boon? Don't think so. I still doubt that there will be a consolidation among the smaller
biotechs, with one merging or buying out another. Still think this will be a game of the
big guys buying up their specific targets. This is an unpopular view on other boards,
too.

I have never had much luck at buying a stock just because it was benefiting from spin.
Do you think that is why XOMA has gone up?
