As long as we're OT: I don't think the global corporations see China as anything but a very large market with lots of needs waiting to be filled. Taiwan, on the other hand, is somewhere on the scale between 'low-cost competitor' and 'negligible'. So, human-rights issues or not, I'd be pretty surprised if our stalwart congressmen & senators, all of whom are on somebody's corporate payroll, don't do whatever it takes to prevent Taiwan from getting in the way of business. OFF TOPIC [ The thing between China and Taiwan is just smoke] That's what I hear. I hadn't paid too much attention to the politics because I have been following earnings, the market and the Kennedy tragedy. Must admit my husband brought home copies of images that a UNIX workstation had to produce for a project. The complex images were not produced by a Sun machine, as you surmised, but they had to do with the environment. And to be honest, I don't understand what it all was about.<g> But he said they could never have used NT or Windows. He's busy writing his own code for another project.(He doesn't have to write his own code but he does) He will run that project on UNIX. I'm busy with the stock market and he has far too many projects going for me to keep track of what he's doing. But some time in the future, I'll drop by his lab to see what he's doing. I have an open invitation. If your family buys property in China, and if you build a house, maybe we can all come and visit you? Huh? Cheers & Best wishes, M........
