Sounds like a recipe for people to get electrocuted, suffer from carbon monoxide poisoning, burn their home down because of candles and other heating appliances.

People buying all this equipment and they don't know how to use it.

<I have been thinking that it would be a good idea to take a weekend in October or November, pull the power switch, and see what things you are still missing, if Y2K hits hard. Probably would be an eye-opener for most, and a refresher course for the rest.>

Personally I'd suggest that people do that now. I ordered my propane generator in February. It was backordered. Finally got shipped. I should get it in a week or so. Five-months from when I ordered it.

IMHO - October or November is too late for this test. Nonetheless, whether people do it now or then - it's definitely a good exercise.
