THE ULTIMATE Y2K DANGER? City-wide, out of control fires (firestorms without the vortex) as soon as fire dept runs out of water, firemen stay home in droves, or are far over-extended, or any other of a myriad of causes. Ithink this will be our # 1 danger, above all others next year. Do the math. If your city has 1 million people e.g., that is potentially one-million potential accidental arsonists, not including many thousands of cats and dogs,etc., who can also accidentally knock over burning lamps or candles. That is one million potential fire-starters, almost all using potentiallly fire-starting candles, oil lamps, even propane indoors x about 17 hours PER DAY, EACH AND EVERY DAY! Figure the math on odds. The question is not if there will be accidental fires started, but how will each and every one be put out if firemen are too late in coming or don't come, before they spread??????????? We are talking here about close to 1 million people who will be at their most hysterial, out of control, careless, and likely awoken from sleep in TOTAL DARKNESS to confront a fire. And, unable to (quickly enough) find a fire extinguisher, in time. Or, too sleepy or out of control to use it correctly and quickly. Probably without 911. Don't forget the intentional arsonists, the gangs, etc. Don't forget that most fire alarms may not function (except battery powered ones). If you have any neighbors within burning distance (anything in between to conduit the fires to your happy place), with or without winds, YOU ARE IN POTENTIALLY MORTAL DANGER! Remember one thing above all- EVERY SINGLE MINUTE that passes when lites are out, fire response can not be normally prompt, WATER supplies are disrupted, etc., THE RISK GOMETRICALLY INCREASES OF CITY-WIDE FIRES, AS WELL AS NEARBY FIRES! Do not think minutes, think days of water disruptions...think potentially weeks of this danger...think potentially indefintely!!! There is absolutely no SAFE SOLUTION FOR THIS POTENTIAL EXCEPT FOR; 1. living far enough away from any neighbors, 2. doing without anything at home that can potentially result in a fire, and/or personally watching, closely and by the minute, every possible action that can result in a fire starting at your own place, e.g, danger of kids or animals or wind or polterguists or whatever knocking over a candle or gas lamp. HAVE A FIRE EXTINUSIHER IN EVERY SINGLE ROOM WHERE YOU WILL BE LITING SOMETHING!
