Thanks, Barry, for sharing your experiences and thoughts.

I agree that what went on yesterday failed to pass the smell test. We know the science works, we know it's safe, and we know the ODP changed the rules of the game set by the FDA. The haunting question is: Why?

The whole case was a major setup,I have seen it before,I am sure we will see it again.I dont mind so much that we did not get the approval even thought we should have, but it drives me crazy the idea that a lot people seems like they new the results ahead of time. Why so much hate against this company, could it be that by delaying the FDA approval VISX will get another 6-12 Months to market their product and establish a name brand?because once an organization would buy the VISX product, would not dump the mashine only a year later just to replace it with the SNRS.Why VISX after so many months suddenly the past two weeks invest millions in a nationwide campaign in 3400 radio station?Maybe they thought the approval of SNRS will destroy them....?Could they be involve?well from a price of 10 dollar stock, now it is trading at 100 after two splits and only 6 Months, with 6 billion market and so money, would be too sweet to let it go.They propably have politicians on their side because after all, everything is politics.I am sure that we may never get to know why, cause nobody is going to do anything about it.Manipulation for one more time at its best. This game is made for the fish to get bigger and the small to get eaten.PERIOD

BARRY, Yes, it was a great post! What can we, the shareholders, do to question or bring about an investigation?

Obviously, political matters are about who ever has the most money and influence is the tie breaker. SNRS can only get so many more private placements and dilute the stock so many times. The Sunrise Ltk Hyperion and its management team will prove it's science in the market place provided they also influence the right people as they learned that playing by the rules isn't enough!

Hopeful that Russ can convince the FDA to ignore the ODP and grant the approval. However, that may have an effect in the market place similar to Clinton after being impeached in the house and then being let off the hook by the senate. Regardless, getting back on track and fast, leading closer to projected earnings can make the market forget old news real fast. However in Clinton's case, he'll always be remembered as he is....

How Russ can accomplish this is the 450 million-dollar question (that's how much the company market cap roughly went down in value on 7-23).

Barry, First....that was an EXCELLENT post!

Secondly, I think EVERYONE is missing the point of what
happened. There were no bribes to the FDA panel, I'm sure.

In a nutshell, Auric (who is NOT the bad guy as many here
think) Warned the thread about the "Political" impossibility
of passage after the WSJ article:

Message 10600716

It is, imho, naive to think that science alone would carry
the day. The panel members were IMO, covering their butts or
possibly sending a message they will not allow the CLINICAL
INVESTIGATOR'S to own such huge amounts of stock, legal
or not. From what I have heard, they were looking for any
excuse not to pass. Also, it is much more politically
expedient to vote as a block without any dissent (when
seven shooters execute someone, and theres only one bullet,
no one gets blamed for the kill).

As I have PM many of you, I think the BEST solution is:

LTK Patient Update

My first LTK patient came in today for his annual exam. I first examined him in June 1997. At that time he was a Hyperope with the following prescription data.

Right Eye(R.E.) +1.75 -.050 axis 110.
Left Eye(L.E.) +1.75 sphere.
Near Vision ADD...+2.00
Uncorrected Visual acuity was 20/70.

9/97......LTK performed L.E.
3/98......LTK performed R.E.

7/29/99......Refraction yielded:

R.E. Plano -.075 axis 105 (16 months post LTK)
L.E. +.075 -.075 axis 80 (22 months post LTK)
Near Vision ADD....+1.75
Uncorrected Visual acuity was 20/25!

Summary......

R.E. +1.75 diopters Distance & +0.25 diopters Near = +2.00 diopters less correction after 16 months LTK!

L.E.+1.75 diopters Distance(+0.75-0.75 axis 80 = effective plano) & +0.25 diopters Near = +2.00 diopters less correction after 22 months LTK!

Uncorrected Visual Acuity.........
20/70--->20/25 = 5 lines better on the chart. Glasses not needed to pass vision test at motor vehicle department!

Compare 16 months versus 22 months and you will notice virtual no change in refractive condition or "regression"! (No need for 24 month data!)

It's a shame the ODP was not educated on this wonderful procedure. Actually they neglected their duties and fiduciary responsibility to the public by not witnessing the LTK procedure and interviewing patients. The FDA should be embarrassed by their panel's shameful performance. It is now Sunrise's obligation to educate the FDA!
