The fact that he did some things right doesn't excuse the fact that he did some things wrong, and the fact that he did some things wrong doesn't change the fact that he did some things right. I would agree with that, and I am perfectly willing to admit that my opinion of the man is colored by my proximity to one of his mistakes. I confess that I am bothered by his tendency to make totally off-the-wall comments when not following a script, and by the feeling that he was a figurehead reciting lines scripted elsewhere. Which is not, of course, much different than the feeling I have about most politicians.
