You're absolutely right. I see the next merger wave will be content providers and bandwidth providers. It will happen. Just like today's TV and radio stations all have to get their own channels and get their own programs. QWST was probably provoked by GBLX (not in my backyard) and pressured to bid for USWest. For that, I admire GBLX's shrewdness (so I went out and bought some shares). The Wall Street love affair with speed is far from over. Nothing is faster than light so I think within the next couple of years the bandwidth owners will do fine as long as they don't commoditize bandwidth like the oil drillers did to oil.
