However well written, everyone should buy technology because it's superior, but not by the emotion he/she has for the stock. There are two choices for him/her, to sell or to hold. I have owned this stock since it was in the 50's, I regret the decision but there is nothing I can do about it. It seems that the management has realized its mistakes, hopefully now have a better strategy for the future. If they don't execute, there will be bought out. 3com does have the technology that other companies want, it's just the matter of how low the stock go before something will happen.

from the yahoo post,

"I am stuck holding stock in your company until the price comes back up. And believe me, as soon as it does, I will dump whatever I own in a heartbeat."

he ought to dump the shares right now! boy, that would teach 3com a lesson! <g3>

i sympathize, actually. and i suspect that there are untold numbers of investors just like him, duped into buying and/or holding by a ceo with ethics that can best be described as questionable. to see that brief example of corporate insiders selling their shares by the hundreds of thousands while benhamou issued public assurances of well-being makes my skin crawl. there is no other way to describe it.

what was that quote? "steal a little and they throw you in jail, steal a lot and they make you king"?

lest anyone think i'm complaining and that i hate the company, on the contrary, i believe that 3com will ultimately prevail. and they will do so either without benhamou, or in spite of him. in fact, benhamou's presence has cast such a dark cloud over the company's image that the day when he is invited to leave is probably drawing closer than we think.

:)
