A cruise missile is a one way ticket <ggg> and yes drones exist. My belief is that pilotless aircraft will engage piloted enemy aircraft in the future. No enemy can pull a 20 G turn to evade a computerized attack aircraft.

It's not just criuse missles, but think about the air to air advantage. As was pointed out, the limiting factor in the aircraft right now is the pilot. a pilot blacks out around 10 g's, even though the aircraft can handle twice that.

Now consider chess. We can beat computers if we have an unlimited amount of time to plan out our moves. But limit the match to 10 seconds per move, and we loose every time. Air to Air combat is nothing more than 3d chess.

without life support systems, the airframe will be a much more efficient platform for the implimentation of violence.

The fly in the ointment is the silk scarf makers, (they would loose their market, and of course the pilots (who wants to be obsolete?)
