Please reply with any questions you would ask of their management. (maybe the group is already well informed considering recent PR?).

I think the key question i would have is if they have any plans on releasing a CDMA/GSM phone. A Vodaphone press release a while back talked about this type of phone and I think it would be key to any CDMA overlays that may occur in the future.

Re: Phone call ERICY

I'd be interested in understanding the reasons for the apparent delay in bringing the G* phone to market.

Technological? Market Strategy? Production capacity? etc

It has been reported on the G* board the ERICY will not be bringing significant numbers to market until sometime in 2000.

Thanks

Ron

ps At risk of being admonished by the threadmaster, Do you realize there is a French wine marketed with the name Fat Bastard? I've served it and described it as my private label, good for a laugh but not very good wine.

P,

My question regarding ERICY:

Now that ERICY has CDMA capabilities, what is the sales force told to push, GSM or CDMA? Assuming the ERICY sales force had been conditioned for years to say that CDMA does not work, how are they accepting the change and how are they back paddling in front of customers?

By the way, I am not being facetious with the questions above. It is very important to have ERICY on board, promoting CDMA.

phatbstrd: The additional question I would appreciate knowing something about from your Ericsson contacts (if legit within "inside info" restrictions) is:

What, if any, plans does Ericsson have for CDMA overlay for GSM?

Clearly the action on this has to be taken by the operators. But trying to be realistic, Ericsson's influence (to put it gently) on this is key.

Progress in Europe for CDMA depends upon this prior to full 3rd gen roll out. And progress there and in much of the rest of the GSM world depends on someone taking the first step in installing a CDMA air interface over installed GSM.

Since Ericsson now owns the Q's infrstructure business and has been the primary opponent of any such action up to now, seems like this is a test of Ericsson's bone fide.

Or to be more general, along the lines Ramsey Su asked, is Ericsson now ready to push as hard (if not even harder) for CDMA as the wave of the future, as it will push running out the string on GSM as the wave of the past.

Or put another way, does Ericsson have the zeal of a convert to CDMA One or is the Ericsson leadership just playing games to continue to delay CDMA One as much as possible, and win with WCDMA?
