Y2K Level Of Preparation

Hi Karen,

My guess is that preparations for Y2K will probably over time approach a normal distribution curve. Some will prepare extensively, some will not prepare at all, but the majority will take moderate steps to put aside a couple of weeks of food and maybe a few days of water. If we as a society can't cope with that, spread over a period of months, there is something drastically wrong with the way we are operating.

Everyone here has their own comfort level on this issue. Right or wrong, we will all have to live with the consequences of our decisions. Personally, if there are tough times, I want to be coping in my own home, not in a crowded, noisy shelter.

John

PS - I appreciate the exchange of ideas.

<4 days worth of water>Karen, this is the most vital of all to store, and the cheapest, also, and can be the last, as water won't go down until at least December yes, December). I recommend a good quality filtration system, and proper barrels. Prepare for 2 gallons per day per person;
I would store for weeks at minimum.

However, I would buy a filter soon; this will be one of the VERY first items to become unavailable, when the mass panic emerg buying starts.

my overall impression was that that "a bunker in Montana" was proportional to one end of the risk range being advocated

Karen... since Russia is apparently going to "nuke" us (and we're going to let 'em get away with it scot-free), a bunker apparently will be required.

Did you ever see "blast from the past". See it on video. It might give you some ideas on how to survive for 35 years until the radiation cloud dissipates.
