Michael, I wanted to say hi, and to use your post as a jump off for an elaboration of what I meant by being "pro- human": In the controversy over the spotted owl habitat, I would have chosen jobs over anxiety about bio- diversity; I like civilization, particularly large cities, and do not deplore their growth; I detest the animal rights movement; I have no respect for ideological vegetarianism; I am leery of the "global warming" crusade, because it threatens economic progress; I think that property rights have been sacrificed too much to environmentalism, as when someone is tied up in litigation over an insignificant "wet land"; and I think that PETA is an extremist group...
