This is a point that that makes the USW merger sound profoundly dumb. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the USW residential customers who want broadband access more likely to go to a competing carrier as soon as they can? Do you have any thoughts on this topic, Frank? Just how "sticky" are these customers, anyway? How would a GBLX or QWST convince high end customers to hang around when they have such a horrible customer service record? (Personally, I dream about the day I can make Bell Gigantic pay for the nonsense they've subjected me to. :-)

Also, wouldn't it be more appropriate for a company like GBLX to persue the residential market by acquiring a CLEC or two in strategic areas? (IMO, certainly from a cultural standpoint. Then again, I'm just a myopic stockholder.) In retrospect, it appears that the main reason to buy USW was fear of being locked out of the residential market in the near future. Boy am I glad this is over...
