Hi Eric Wells; Since I'm carrying a very small number
of AMZN shares short, (and intend on holding until the
stock reaches single digits,) I though I'd look at the
short interest.

I was shocked to discover that AMZN has fewer shares
short now than a year ago, in fact, nearly half as many:

06/99 13,532,067
05/99 11,335,140
04/99 12,482,064
03/99 12,687,450
02/99 12,541,013
01/99 16,263,193
12/98 20,738,016
11/98 22,206,714
10/98 22,108,764
09/98 22,433,622
08/98 22,179,459
07/98 21,947,724

The total number of shares is 161MM, of which 63MM
are in the float, according to Yahoo.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about your AMZN short.
But do avoid overtrading - i.e. the taking of positions
larger than you can financially back up. The long time
traders say no more than 2% of your nut should be at risk
in any one trade. Given AMZN's ability to move, say $10
over night, this means that a typical $100,000 account
shouldn't short (or long) more than about 200 shares of
AMZN for holding over night.
