rarebird: I suspect we will have a bounce soon (probably tomorrow) but agree we seem to be in the very early phase of a real bear market. A key factor distinguishing bear markets from panics like we had last fall is that bear markets start slowly, last awhile, and experience a final climatic selloff after a long painful decline. So do not expect the Dow to drop 18% in 6 weeks like last year. But perhaps 30% over 6 months with lots of rallies on the way down to keep hope alive.
