Jeff,

This almost plays out similar to the Y2K companies of 97 was it? I stated this in the CMGI thread but alot of people there are caught up in how great CMGI is and how they own 1000 great startups if they own CMGI.

Anyways, the media tells you about exponential internet growth, etc. much like how they stated that the Y2K problem was a $600 billion problem. And any company out there, if they could capture just 0.1% of the pie which was "very likely" was going to make a fortune. Well, most of those companies are now doing poorly. Why?

Because the media is giving you a picture perfect scenario. And reality is not picture perfect.

But wall street, in the end, always is. :)

Regarding the conference call, if what Doug says is true, that management deliberately chose NOT to disclose the Q&A in the playback, then this is very disturbing.

EBAY is doing a such a great disservice to investors. They had better have a good reason for not disclosing the full conference call to the public.
