Why does cash loaded SEG need $0.5 billion? They must be planning a major purchase but it could be their own stock.

If they can unload some VRTS shares at these lofty prices and buy back SEG shares, it would be a good move, IMO.

It could also serve as a nice war-chest to press the price war in disk drives into next year. Could one assume from this sale that SEG will have losses - operating or not - to offset this gain? I'm guessing that they will.

I am always happy to see a company raise cash before they need it. With VRTS stock as high as it is, this was a no-brainer for management.
