Not entirely antithetical, I think. Most parents want to raise self-directed children who act responsibly. Most realize they have to intervene now and then. Sometimes harshly. My second point was mainly a smart-ass remark, anyway. I think all governments should care as much about people as bugs. Neocon, the stats on the DC schools are readily available online through the Post. That environment and the achievement it produces (system wide) is sub-third world. Any here with children currently in the DC schools, please raise your hands.
