Hi Tim

Thanks for stopping in. I think that things are just starting to get warmed up.

I would presume that your vote (a few posts back) would be a resounding "are you kidding??? trust them with money!!"

I'm not so sure about the flat tax. I believe that it would be best if the Federal government would get out of our personal lives entirely. The flat tax (correct me if I'm wrong) would still leave us with the IRS. Seems to me that a government of by and for the people should not have the abilities that agency does.

But .. if I can't get enough people to see it my way then maybe I need to reshape my thoughts.

Anyhow .. what do you think about making those that spend pork personably responsible for their misdeeds? Should we attach their paychecks or put them in jail?

Gersh

<<The only way to stop the spending is to stop giving the congress money to spend and put in a flat tax.>>

These are two separate issues. The amount of money congress has to spend is a different issue than how much of the total is paid by various categories of taxpayers.

Regarding tax cuts, I hope one doesn't forget that the when the deficit really took off was the last time congress enacted a massive tax cut.

Regarding how much the government spends, 60% of federal spending is for the "middle class welfare" programs (social security and medicare), national defense, and interest on the debt. If you wish to stop giving congress the money to spend, I would assume you have some ideas of which of these areas we should cut? Or should we reserve all the cuts for the other 40% of the budget?
