<<US decided to sheepify its people by neglecting their schooling>> Carl, I see no reason why the USA government has to do anything like the above to control its citizens because it already has a workable system in place "if it ain't broke, don't fix or change it". Eventho the USA has some glaring and stupid quirks that other countries do not have, overall most people have it better than good, and most of the complaints can be viewed by citizens of other countries with disbelief, as in "I wish I was able to have that problem". Like when you didn't want to eat your vegtables and you Mom said that there was a person somewhere in the world hungry with no food to eat. Was true then, and still true now. Most USA people are complaisant and let the USA government continue to be poorly run and do stupid things, just so long as Main Street USA can celerbrate Fourth of July with fireworks and hotdogs and baseball. The only reason corrupt and criminal politicians have not "taken over" is thru the forsight of the Founding Fathers of USA in making it the law of the land the Constitution and amendments to it like The Bill of Rights. They saw a time when the citizens would relax and let others run the show, so they put that in place to prevent abuse by making it very much not easy to change certain rights, and along the same line of thought, making it very public if changes were to be made, plus it would take a long time, as in years. The other countries at the opposite extreme, like China for example, those in power got there thru force and remain in power only thru force against their citizens. Those in power in the government of China have complete power to make change modify destroy create etc at their whim. But the just used word "whim" is very incorrect to discribe how they rule the citizens of China. Each day the rules of China view their citizens as a threat, as the enemy to "destroy" thru control, knowing that if the population of citizens, 99.999% of China, could simply push a button to erase the present government and replace it with a vote for whoever you wanted, then 90% would press YES. Want proof ? Have a government official poll each citizen with the question of "Do you think that an open study by common citizens be done to collect ideas on how the China government can improve and better the life of its citizens ?" The above done out in public, each citizen polled will sign it's name to the questioniar paper and then mark Yes or No. Bet ya it will be 99.99% NO. Governments like China have great and extreme fear of citizens talking among themselves of their government. One way to control this is to prevent large groups of people to gather, even if the gathering was only for non government events it has to be prevented. Only large groups, thru government controlled and monitored, are allowed. Large number of people can quickly "start talking" among themselves and the discussion can turn to "rights" as in a lack of. Then all thats needed is that 1 in a 1,000 person to step up and organize them. Put a hundred unarmed China citizens at their government's front door asking to be heard for their need for changes. Eventually the rulers of China will use physical force to stop it. Do it with a thousand citizens, and eventually enough military force will arrive. But then have 100 thousand unarmed protesting Chinese citizens at the rulers front door...then the citizens will eliminate all current government persons and then be free and then deal with the chaos by finding those 1 in a 1,000 citizens that can start a better government for the people of China. And they will be easy to find, go to the jails and prisons and you will find them arrested for anti-government thoughts. China's Communist Party cranked up its battle against a banned quasi-religious sect on Tuesday, accusing it of engaging in anti-government activities. Falun Gong - combines elements of Buddhism, Taoism, meditation and breathing exercises. The sect claims up to 100 million followers. China banned Falun Gong as an illegal organisation that corrupted the people's minds, disrupted social order and sabotaged social stability. The Communist Party has permitted no organised opposition since 1949. Falun Gong has also revived the spectre of peasant movements which have challenged, and sometimes overthrown, dynasties. The Communist Party has moved to clean its ranks of sect members. Police have launched a nationwide campaign, seizing Falun Gong books and ... Doug
