I don't know if it's any indication of Compaq's thinking, but Motley Fool is blaming Compaq's "bloat" on the Tandem and DEC acquisitions.

Taking a contrarian viewpoint (I have been negative on CPQ for a long time), I bought a couple of hundred shares yesterday on a hunch. I don't know what the future beholds, but the stock does seem to have support in the low 20s. Also Dan Niles recommended CPQ on CNBC (when asked what techs he would be buying)with the rationale being - how much worse can it get from here, and most (if not all) of the bad news
is probably reflected.

Following Dan Niles advice - Just a momentary lapse of reason on my part.
