<not a single long-term outage of water in the U.S. because of Y2K>
Uh.. TGuy, would you put that in writing, like sign an affadavit, under penalty of perjury?

I'll take your points in order.

There are thousands, probably millions, of different "systems", each with tremendous redundancy,
..please quantify the numbers here. And, qualify 'tremendous redundancy"

not one overall system.
...may I suggest studying up on the concept of 'system'?

Take water and sewage treatment, which seems to be a big focus for you

....it should be for you and everyone else to would like to remain alive, as you will die, I mean, like die really, really dead, no hope of coming back, without water for 3-4 days. Sewage treatment will be disrupted as soon as electrical systems are down, and sewage backups in the home will be less than unpleasant.

There are 171,000 different water supply systems in the U.S., each with varying degrees of Y2K readiness. A large percentage of them

....what %? And so what? Whoever is without water and has sewage backup all over their clean, shiny bathrooms could care less about the rest of the country!

are gravity fed, with mechanical, not embedded system controls, and the ability to conduct treatment manually, if necessary. The water supply and treatment industry is taking this issue extremely seriously

....'taking this extremely seriously"--is this like 'we're working on it", "we hope to be..."????

and I would bet you right now that there will not be a single long-term outage of water in the U.S. because of Y2K.

"you should have demanded extremely long odds in your favor when offering a bet on this one"....bet you have not seen even a fraction of the reports on this industry I have...

And even if there were, it would not affect anyone but those who are on that particular system,

..."not affect anyone... but"......golly gee, that makes me really happy today!

because there is no overall system for water supply, there are 171,000 different systems in the U.S.

....so what?

Half the people in the U.S. do not even connect to a wastewater sewage treatment facility. They are on septic tanks and have absolutely nothing to worry about for Y2K impact on sewage treatment.
....I bet you cannot back this one up with statistics...

ALL THE ABOVE IS JUST RHETORIC- THE KEY THING IS THAT WATER DELIVERY problem is SYSTEMIC!!!!!!!!!!! Please, please read up carefully on the systemic nature of the entire system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if your pipe dream comes true, that all water utlities have no problem, you will still not get water, and have sewage problems, if..

......the grid is down
......if banking collapses
......if the stock market collapses
......if oil supply chain is disrupted too severly
......if heavy transport is too severly disrupted
......if the division of labor collapses
......there are more- this is for starters

If you throughly study the systemic aspects, and still do not understand why any of the above cases could leave you without water, and make you as stiff as any underground stiff, than ask me at that time to explain.

Technologyguy why are you wasting your time with this non-professional, anal retentive, opinionated, stupid poster? All he does is rant and rave about what could happen.

He should read the bunker release again:

hey technologyguy, sorry for cross-referencing you on "probably millions." ken needs to do some reading in a public works library as well as brush up on his IT skills.
