Mr. John F. Dowd,

Inflation usually takes
care of itself with of all things - its own high prices. Nothing cures high prices like
high prices. JFD

Actually there was a study completed in the mid 80's that concluded an inflationary period will end on it's own quicker than with govt intervention. I can't remember if it was completed by Battelle Inst. or Brookings. I had seen a copy when I was working at an oil company.

Point being when govt attempts to control inflation it usually prolongs the inflationary period and causes it to deepen worst than if the govt would stay out.

Thank You

JK

AG is so smart he believes that if you give the government more $ they will save it i.e. pay down the debt.

Actually, Greenspan said that he would prefer that the money be used to pay down the debt and that he would prefer that tax cuts wait, but if the surplus became a lightening rod for new spending that he would advocate the tax cuts.
