NEW YORK, July 30 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley and CS First Boston said they raised their price
targets and earnings estimates on BMC Software Inc. <BMCS.O>, citing the company's strong
fiscal first quarter earnings report.

-- Morgan Stanley said it increased its price target on BMC to $64 from $49, and boosted its
earnings estimates to $1.99 a share from $1.95 a share for 1999 and to $2.55 a share from $2.50 a
share for 2000.

-- Morgan Stanley said BMC posted "good quarterly results that represent progress for the
company's goal of landing permanently among top-tier systems-management companies."

-- CS First Boston said it raised its price target to $80 a share from $72 a share.

-- CS First Boston also said it raised its year 2000 earnings estimate to $1.97 from $1.94 and raised
its 2001 estimate to $2.50 a share from $2.42 a share.

-- CS First Boston said it reiterated a buy rating on the stock.
