<<<Good that someone like you recognize the real issue. Fremont is ATHM's first test market. But to be honest to all of you, the penetration ratio is NOT that great. Only about 6000 accounts out of 225K residences. And the fact is, Fremont area was entirely upgraded 2 years ago. >>>

I can make the same case with the RR service. When I was doing DD I was forced to look at the closest thing to ATHM in my area, which was RR offered by TWX. The greater portland (Me.) area had 2000 accts with 100,000 upgraded homes 1 year ago.. Thats a penetration rate of a paltry 2%. They too had no lines, no waiting. I brought this up to the thread a few days ago after ATHM announced earnings and Eric responded that demand was the reason for the low penetration rate.

Jing Qian;

Fremont area is one of the most tech savvy city in the nation, yet the penetration ratio remains well under 10%. What would happen to other cities?

I think that is why ATHM has such a low penetration rate in Fremont. Tech savvy people know about the problems ATHM had in Fremont. Pac Bell saw it as excellent opportunity to move in and grab potential subscribers from ATHM. Regaining the trust of quality service in Fremont is something their marketing department has to work on.
Not all cities have tech savvy people though...

Don't know the penetration rate here in CO, but I do know ATHM is having a very hard time keeping up with installations. The tech "saviness" around here is, to say the least, increasing and business week have some interesting numbers in regards to that in their latest issue. CO was in the top 5 of online usage (47% I believe) and also top 5 in most tech jobs generated.
